User Web Pages

This is a compendium of several links which are home pages of real MVS folks. There is a wealth of material here. Be careful, because a trip through all of the related links could take hours! You see, each site has links to others, which in turn have links to others, and so on. Also be careful, because none of these sites are supported by corporations. Thus, links may occasionally not work, some of the data could be out of date, and the software is NOT supported (other than by whatever goodwill the creator has). With that warning, I think these links provide some very great value, and I wouldn't want to be without them! I'll just mention the computer-related information, but you'll find a lot more information on the sites that are near and dear to the originators - SCUBA sites, ham radio, traveling, etc. Here they are:
    Chuck Hopf - Mad Monk's Page <http://www.chopf.com>
Start with his Techno-Gibberish. Then check out his graph of RMF Capture Ratio. It's quite interesting. Chuck's "Moving to Goal Mode" paper is an excellent paper that shows his experiences with migrating to goal mode - a must-read article. You can also find sample MXG/SAS code here. Chuck has also started a "dinos WEB Ring" with pointers to other mainframe home pages; it's small now, but I'm sure it will grow. Follow the ring for good mainframe sites.

    David Alcock - Dave's MVS Page <http://www.ticnet.com/davea>
Go to "Dave's MVS Page." Here Dave has assembled a great collection of Computer Links. He also has several freeware programs, such as an SMP/E post processor and a Spell Checker for ISPF. You'll find a laugh or two with his Mainframe Slang Terms and some good "MVS Tips" for maintaining an MVS system.

    Gilbert Saint-flour - GSF's Home Page <http://members.home.net/gsf>
Gilbert' MVS Tools & Docs link takes you to a set of tools that he has contributed to the CBT tape. His ShowMVS command is a must-have - it shows 60 displays about your MVS system. I've used it at several sites. There are other goodies, too, like his LCAT, a full-screen IDCAMS Listcat.

Bill Lalonde - Big Iron Page <http://members.tripod.com/~billlalonde>
Bill has compiled some "Stupid JCL Tricks" and "MVS Tricks of the Trade" that I really like. I picked up some useful hints during my browse of his page. He also has a good pointer to other MVS Shareware.

    Bruce Gillispie - Rock Painter's Page <http://www.texasrock.com>
Bruce has a very comprehensive list of mainframe sites (Mainframe System Page) with most of the software and hardware vendors and an easy index to them. Click on Other Mainframe Related Home Pages - EBCDIC to find links to another dozen or so user home pages. At the bottom of his first page, you'll also find some handy technical articles. I use this site a lot, especially to get to the vendors.

    Eric Loriaux - System/390 Home Page <http://www.ping.be/~ping1475>
Eric's home page has links to the world of mainframes. You can find hardware and software vendors, consultants, training, sites for job searches and locating positions, classified ads, book links, people links, and LOTS of IBM links. For just about anything related to mainframes, this is a good place to start.
