Cheryl's List #63 -
1. CPU Chart Correction
1. CPU Chart Correction The CPU Chart that was emailed to electronic subscribers on February 28th had two typos in it. These have been corrected in the printed version, which will be mailed today. A new CPU Chart will be emailed to electronic subscribers within the next couple of days. Dave Murphy pointed out that I had used 'Large System Performance Ratings' instead of 'Large System Performance Reference' to refer to LSPR in two places (it was correct elsewhere). It was a typo that we missed during editing. Ronald LeJeune of Stora Enso North America noted that the Min
and Max MIPS for the Multiprise 7060 machines were incorrect. Something
went haywire with my spreadsheet! The correct values are:
2. New Free Newsletters Xephon has a nifty new (and free) weekly online newsletter about MVS, DB2, MQ, CICS, etc. at http://www.mainframeweek.com. It's new enough that you can easily read the back issues, and then subscribe for your weekly email. Thanks, Xephon, for an informative new newsletter! BMC is sponsoring an online DBA magazine that I find to be an excellent source for performance and tutorial articles on DB2, Oracle, and other databases. Look at http://www.dbazine.com. 3. Update on z800s In the last Cheryl's List, I indicated that SRM constants were not yet available for the z800s. The constants were added to the IBM Web site after I had written the Cheryl's List. You can find them at http://www.ibm.com/servers/eserver/zseries/srm. 4. Cheryl's Hot Flashes #7 My SHARE presentation, "Cheryl's Hot Flashes #7," containing my latest hints & tips, will be sent out to electronic subscribers today. Print subscribers can see it in Cheryl's Watson's TUNING Letter 2002, No. 1, which will be out soon. (Sorry for the delay, but my bad back made writing difficult. It's better now.) Hope you enjoy! Stay tuned!

Past Cheryl's List issues, starting with #1 of December 1996, can always be obtained at http://www.watsonwalker.com/archives.html. In Cheryl's List, we provide updates to our newsletter, Cheryl Watson's TUNING Letter. We’ll also let you know if anything of importance has been added to our Web pages, and tell you about our other products and services. Please note that this email service is not intended to match or summarize the large scope and volume of information we provide in Cheryl Watson’s TUNING Letter. The TUNING Letter is published six times a year and costs $695 for the electronic version: a yearly CD-ROM of back issues and six PDF issues emailed during the year. The print-only version costs $495 in North America and $545 abroad. See http://www.watsonwalker.com/TUNING.html for details. Past tables of contents are at http://www.watsonwalker.com/TofC.html, and a FULL SAMPLE ISSUE can be found at http://www.watsonwalker.com/pdf. So - we hope you'll find this service valuable.
