Cheryl's List #58 -
1. Corrections
1. Corrections Here are a few typos that were present in our 2001, No. 4 TUNING Letter: Jerry Urbaniak of Acxiom pointed out that on page 29 the reference to APAR OW44945 for LISTDATA maintenance should have specified APAR OW42945 instead. Carl Wade McBurnie, an independent consultant, pointed out the following: On page 50, there's a reference to CICS transactions that start with 'DFH'. They start with 'C', not 'DFH', which is the prefix for the programs. Also, for some strange reason, I referred to CICS V5 and CICS TS as two products. They are one and the same. You go from CICS V4 to CICS TS. By the way, support for CICS V4 will be dropped on December 31, 2002. You have only a year to install and migrate to CICS TS. 2. Software Price Assurance On page 25 of the 2001, No. 4 TUNING Letter, I discussed a transition program with a price assurance from IBM. This is for sites moving to the new software pricing available with z/OS on z900s. Several people have asked me for an announcement letter or other public document that describes the program. There isn't any that I know of. But if you're moving to a z900 with z/OS, be sure to ask your IBM account rep for details. 3. We're off to the mountains Tom and I will be vacationing in the mountains of North Carolina the week of October 20. I'm taking a photography workshop and Tom has a drawing workshop. We've just discovered that there is NO phone access, nor do cell phones work. Therefore we'll be offline for that week. Linda May will be reviewing our email for anything urgent and for BoxScore support questions, but everything else will need to wait until we return. The fall leaves should be at their best, so it should be a very relaxing time. I haven't been away from my computer for that long in ten years! Stay tuned!
